Scientific Sales Internship

Organomation is an established manufacturer of analytical laboratory instrumentation located in Berlin, MA. We provide trusted sample preparation solutions, including nitrogen blowdown evaporators, solvent extractors, and gas generators, to a variety of research and testing labs worldwide.

 

We are seeking a motivated Scientific Sales Intern to join our Sales and Marketing team on-site in Berlin, MA. Applicants must be available to work on-site for 15-20 hours a week during business hours, 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.

 

This internship is ideal for a student with strong communication skills and a background in natural science who is interested in exploring scientific or medical sales.  You will interact with natural science professionals and equipment distributors to match Organomation’s instrument lines with customer research and sample prep needs. On-the-job training will be provided, but a background in natural sciences (especially chemistry) is preferred. Prior experience with solvent evaporation and chromatography sample preparation is a bonus.

 

Ideally, Organomation will hire a current student in the last year of their undergraduate or graduate degree who is interested in starting immediately, with a possibility of moving to a full-time role after graduation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and qualify incoming inquiries and quote requests via email and phone
  • Manage all steps of the sales process from qualification to quote creation to order acceptance and shipping.
  • Foster and support relationships with customers and distributors through responsive follow-up communications designed to increase customer interest in Organomation's products
  • Maintain high deal closure to meet the Company's growth objectives
  • Interact with 3rd party contractors and suppliers and meet multiple deadlines in a timely fashion
  • Field a range of phone inquiries, including requests for quotes, product recommendations, and technical support
  • Assist with other projects as needed

 

Requirements and Desired Skills:

  • Some background in natural sciences is required. Candidates currently working towards a degreen in chemistry or a related field are preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Strong desire to learn and ability to adapt to changing routines
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. This position involves frequent communication with scientists and distributors via both email and phone
  • High energy, positive attitude and intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time and projects effectively
  • Competence using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word is required
