Undergraduate Research Assistant – Dr. John Ma, Structural Laboratory Research Assistant
The Structural Laboratory Research Assistant (RA) will support research activities in the university’s structural engineering lab. This role involves assisting with the setup, execution, and documentation of structural/materials tests, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring a safe and organized working environment. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of college-level coursework in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and execution of structural experiments, including material testing, load application, and data collection.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment such as hydraulic actuators, data acquisition systems, and strain measurement tools.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
- Document experimental procedures and results accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of college-level coursework in engineering or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, instrumentation, or laboratory testing.
- Familiarity with structural engineering concepts and materials testing.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
